Out of the Dark and into the Light
Greetings Readers,
This weeks Got Insight section is about Easter
No matter you belief about the Easter holiday, No matter your tradition, Happy Easter!
Before Christian religions the Celts and pagan religions celebrated and feasted on this very time of the year. On the spring equinox and after, for the month of April celebrated of the month of re-birth or birth; it is the time of spring when all things are fertility and the ancestors can choose to return to their clans by being reborn. Interestingly enough Easter is often represented by the egg or rabbit who is a prolific procreator. For the Celts Winter has passed and spring makes everything new again and so they would paint the birth colors of the springs sunlight upon an egg and give it as a gift, use them in competitions and hang them from trees. The Anglo-Saxon goddess Teutonic would bless the coming herds, enrich soil for a good growing season and the bring fertility to people of the clans. Hence, making this a calibration about coming out of the darkness of winter into the light of spring, or out of death into life.
In Greek ledged there is a similar tale of Persephone the goddess of the earth who arose from the underworld into the light ending the darkness of winter and bringing the light of spring to all the land.
Likewise in the Christian tradition the resection of Christ is the coming out of darkness into the light. He died and rose again but by doing so brought all mankind the gift of a new beginning and the light of wisdom.
In the Jewish tradition Easter is Passover or Pesach a celebration for the exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. The theme holds here as well; out of the darkness into the light or out of slavery and into freedom.
I could continue this comparison, but I think the point is made.
Welcome to Spring!

Reverie those who have come before and remember what the darkness is so that you can live in the light.
