Lending a Hand doesn’t have to mean you are giving it away
It’s New Year 2009 Readers,
This weeks Got Insight section is about Reaching Out a Helping Hand.
Welcome Readers!
I find that very often in my life I am helping others sometimes that come from purely love the other person and want to help or I see someone in need and can’t stop myself from offering my assistance in one way or another.
Ask yourself are you expecting to get something for helping this others?
If the answer to this question is yes I expect to get something even if it as small as a thank you, then stop. You are helping for the wrong reasons. If the answer is no I don’t expect anything and I would not be hurt or disappointed if I didn’t even get a thank you, Then great. Move on to question two.
Then ask yourself how do you help?
Do you contribute financially, offer assistance physically, lend support, are you available or maybe you pray or send healing to others? There are so many ways to lend a helping hand. How can you be more or if necessary less helpful to others?
Yes, I said less helpful. This would apply to you give so much of yourself you can’t give to you or take care of your needs. And you should always make sure your batteries are fully charged when you are giving back. Other wise is can be a drain on your psyche or even your physical body. If you don’t have it you can certainly try to give it but how will that happen and will you end up resentful and drained?
What is the easiest thing to give that will instantly give back to you?
Common courtesy and a smile. That’s right a smile! One smile can turn someone else’s day around and maybe even yours. Holding the door for someone instead of letting it slam in there face. Being present in a giving way will give back to you without the need for expectation. It will just happen.
So for all you readers out there I want to give you a smile. Let me introduce you to one of the most wonderful creatures in my life. This is Bubba!

He lives in Joy every single day! And his goofy face should bring a smile to yours. I offer you a smile or even a belly laugh in the blog post. Courtesy of Bubba!
