Arm Drawing and Shock Conversion

This induction should only be used in rare instances when the subject might be in shock or there is an emergency situation.

Place the subject in an upright chair. Feet flat on the floor. Arms extended outward and coming forward.  Then place your thumb on the inside of his wrists and hold his arms apart.( If you release his arms at this point, they will draw in by themselves.) Hold his arms in this position while you tell him:

" In a moment, I will release your arms will pull inward as if a force is drawing them together. When your hands touch, you will go deep asleep. Now concentrate on my voice on my and look into my eyes, [release his hands] as your hands and arms constantly draw closer and closer, drawing inward, pulling together.

The expectation will build as the arms pull in. The therapists hands should spot the outside of the subjects but not touch. when his hands reach about 1/2 feet apart...push them together  rapidly and say: "DEEP SLEEP!" This sudden shock results in a very fast induction into hypnosis. Next tell the client that his/her hands are very relaxed and limp and put them down to their sides. As you allow their hands to drop tell them: "Deeper asleep!"
